    Dinky Austin Atlantic Convertible

    The Austin Atlantic had been intended as a big seller in the US, hence its controversial transatlantic styling, but the small four-cylinder engine put paid to Austin’s hopes for US success for the car. The Dinky model, however, was far more of a hit, with no less than fourteen different variants produced during its seven-year lifespan. Making it particularly interesting though is the fact that it is the first Dinky model to have recessed rather than raised lines in the casting to denote the bonnet, boot and door edges, a feature which would not become common until some years later.

The range later included Push and Go which were introduced in the 1950s, Minic Motorways which were introduced 1963 and Minic Ships which were introduced in 1959.
