Yat Ming is back...

Posted by jclevering in Tales of Toy CarsCars

At a recent trip to Northern Ireland I came accross a Sainsbury's. Long story short, I found some diecast cars branded as Sainsbury's. Upon closer examination I found the manufacturer to be Yatming.

The cars are sold in Europe as Dickie as well, so you might find them under different names in

Motorama

Posted by jclevering in Tales of Toy CarsCars

Motorama is the latest diecast manufacturer to venture in the 1:64 market. The company seems to have a base in Italy, as the packaging is Italian and so are the cars. The cars are rather well detailed Abarth versions of Fiat cars offered with a shooter and in certain cases with a bit of a track.

More constructing at scale

Posted by jclevering in Tales of Toy CarsConstructionCars

I was at one of the biggest (if not the biggest) construction fairs in the world, so I took the chance to buy some scale models. I could've bought much more, but these are ones that really stood out for me.

How-to: Build a showroom

Posted by jclevering in Tales of Toy CarsCars

Hot Wheels

Posted by jclevering in Tales of Toy CarsCars

afbeeldingMy first Hot Wheels was one I got from a neighbour. The first one I bought was when Mattel improved distribution in Holland, as they were sold through a mayor toy outlet.
Lately, I did not find any Hot Wheels, Tesco for example, seems to have stopped doing them in Ireland - that other brand of

Would you believe?

Sometimes, diecast manufacturers surprise us.

I'm going to give a few examples below.

Who would believe Yat Ming, known for their cheap diecast cars, would produce a small gem like this Talbot-Lago Record T26? The box at the background is the box my example came in, although I believe the bottom has

Lion Toys

Posted by jclevering in Cars

I was able to expand my collection of Dutch build cars and trucks over the last month, by adding a Spierings tower crane truck, a FTF 8x4 truck and to (finally) get a Ginaf in 1:50. Last week I received below Lion Toys scale models and one must say, they certainly did improve their casts over the
