    In 1861 Johann Andr. Issmayer started manufactured floating, magnetic tin-plate toys and some children's cooking-ranges. Gradually he increased the production of trains, many of which went to the United States.

  • Hess

    Mattheus Hess belonged undoubtedly to one of the oldest toy manufacturers of Germany. The firm was founded in 1826 and Hess was one of the first manufacturers to produce trains without a clockwork mechanism. A few years later they also manufactured clockwork trains. The factory closed in 1941.

  • AMT Slot Cars

    The AMT Corporation went into the Slot cars market in 1964, producing four very nice kits derived from their one-piece promotional models. AMT later purchased Dynamic Models Inc. In 1981, AMT was purchased by Ertl & renamed AMT-Ertl. They still manufacture models under the ERTL name.
